Standard QuickLay

Definition:

Attack lines forward or reverse laid between the water supply and a point at or near to the fire containment point using the Lay Pack and/or pre-connected flaked hose.

Where a hose is then connected and deployed from the Attack Pack into a coil so it can be advanced into the fire effortlessly

Equipment:
  • Pre-connected Flaked Hose
  • Lay Pack
  • Attack Pack

Hose laid to or from the fire

The Standard QuickLay technique involves stretching the Lay Pack between:

  • The pressurised water supply and;
  • A point at or near to the fire entry point

The decision to lay the Lay Pack to or from the fire depends on whether the entry point to the fire is known on arrival.

  • Known - Lay to it
  • Not Yet Known - Find it and lay back from it

This method gives fire fighters 60m or 200" of charged hose, deployed usually in less than 60 seconds.

Application:

The standard QuickLay technique is used to lay a single line of hose as quickly as the ground can be covered.

The coiled hose at the end deployed form the Attack Pack allows the fire fighters to easily advance into a challenging environment quickly and without dragging long lengths of heavy hose.
