Frequently Asked Questions:

Question:

How much do the packs weigh?

Answer:

Completely packed, they weigh approximately 11kg, however the long thin design brings the mass closer to the spine of the fire fighter, meaning the weight experienced by the operator is less than traditional 'bag' type setups that are not designed to fit alongside a breathing apparatus cylinder.

Question:

Will current hoses and equipment fit in the packs?

Answer:

Yes, the packs are designed to fit either canvas or rubber (duraline) hose. For longer or shorter hoses we can custom make the required modifications.

Question:

We use pre-connected flaked hose. How will the QuickLay Packs work with these?

Answer:

The QuickLay Packs are designed for immediate deployment in challenging situations. For a standard house fire, where the distance from the fire appliance to the entry door is aprox 30m/100' we suggest you continue to use your pre-connected flaked hose and simply deploy the Attack Pack at the ideal entry point.

If however the fire entry point is greater than 30m/100' you are now able to stretch your pre-connected flaked hose from the fire appliance, connect and deploy the Lay Pack on the fly then connect the Attack Pack. This gives you 90m/300' of charged hose in less than 90 seconds - with the final 30m/100' deployed, ready to advance from a workable coil, rather than a long flaked line.

Question:

How will we train our whole organisation in the use of the packs?

Answer:

The packs have been implemented with very little fuss - while they make a huge difference to fire fighting operations they are simple to use. Your local representative can discuss the many options available to you. Including a DVD or web-based tutorial. Ultimately, provided the implementation is well organised the end-users uptake is a smooth transition.
